YOU MUST READ THIS HONEST RENDITION ON ONDO STATE GAME!!!

ONDO AS THE ACHILLES HEEL OF A BRIGHT POLITICAL DYNASTY???

It is a question that keeps recurring in my mind. Let me tell you what our ancestors and Orishas say about Yoruba land and political leadership; “a storm sown out of ill will, will consume those who sowed the storm. They have forgotten the people and where they came from and power is about to change hands”. Funny enough, first time I came across this message, I didn’t understand it. I thought maybe some new young Turk would emerge and set up a political platform to challenge the present status quo.

When news about the Ondo primaries began to filter out, then the message became clearer to me. Let’s look at the points one by one; the PDP is still very strong in Ondo State because of governor Mimiko, governor Mimiko’s second term was a Political and financial disaster. Workers are being owed, but Mimiko was too neck deep in the GEJ reelection project to care. Why was Mimiko so passionate about GEJ? Because Tinubu and his crew were hell bent on destroying him for their now usual song of “betrayal” so he sort refuge with his enemies enemies. Mimiko is however of the Markarfi PDP Chairman faction and his faction produced Eyitayo Jegede. The Ali Modu Sherriff faction of the PDP however produced Jimoh Ibrahim as their own candidate, Mimiko has being lobbying Sherriff to let Jegede represent the party, but we dot know exactly where that is.

Now this should have being a perfect situation for APC, but somehow or the other the Tinubu power block’s plan to produce Abraham a man of unknown qualities as against more seasoned candidates like Oke and Borrofice backfired. People had forgotten about Aketi, they had written him off because Asiwaju was not with him, but most of those on the other side were played the usual “Asiwaju game” of “all of you go and run” and at the last minute you will realize you are on your own. Ask Tunde Irukera in Kogi or several other aspirants for elective posts that have being told “ko ti kan yin” after wasting resources. The primaries was won by Aketi against all odds, the primaries were open and clear and there were no complaints until results came in.

The losers after initially accepting the results began to protest its validity meanwhile nothing happened in Ondo that did not happen in Lagos to produce Ambode, Kogi to produce Audu and other southwest primaries, they just LOST this time at their own game. The party’s highest body the NWC was deployed to review the election and the NWC upheld the election of Aketi. Then party men , began to show they were not party men, the big man in Lagos began to throw stories around to discredit the NWC and particularly the party Chairman so much they have made him a subject of hate. The “Party Leader” washed his party’s dirty linen in public, and hypocrisy blinded his followers.

Aketi’s election stands, because that is the just thing, but the so called elders are working against him still. Now let me play you the tape, there is someone who has more to lose if APC loses Ondo state which should be an easy win and that is Mr. Tinubu. Let me tell you why, if a divided PDP manages to win this and the PDP have a second leg to stand on in the SW, Tinubu himself has opened the door for the enemy and they are stronger. His supporters barrage of abuse on the president, the party chairman and various others would be his downfall if he is not careful because once the PDP makes gains in his region, his position becomes weaker. Now without backing Aketi, should Aketi win, it would even be worse for him. His electoral prowess will be demystified and if other elders in the party from other regions begin to feel uncomfortable with him, there would be a alternative SW leader within the APC power structure. Tinubu nominated the VP, his boy is the FIRS and various other arms of government, the President seems to honor and respect him, suddenly his fans are cursing the president and other party leaders? Hmmm..

I can’t but mention the move of Oke (seen as a Tinubu instigation to dilute the APC against Aketi), AD is a dead party, Tinubu himself buried it and Oke has just put a nail on his political coffin, him and anyone who joins him. I can safely say Dr. Agunloye of SDP would get more votes than him, without mincing words the best position for Mr. Tinubu would be for the APC not to lose Ondo, that is the best case scenario, if they do, he is doomed and would be forever blamed for throwing an open goal away because of his selfish reasons.I also repeat that should Aketi win without him (a very great possibility, considering PDP too is not stable) it would be equally bad for him, in fact perhaps worse. Anyone who can analyze Nigerian politics without bias would see what I am saying and anyone who knows Ondo state politics would tell you they don’t like imposition but more importantly as my brother Ajando used to say “ori mi ma je ki ba Federal government ja”. Anyone who is waging a subtle war against the FG (which he is a part of) is daring fate.

I believe Mr. Tinubu to be an intelligent man ( I can’t say same for his minions and followers) so I know he might have given this careful thought. This is a fight he needn’t have bought, especially since he is flexing muscle in other war fronts, he has to define a safe exit strategy for himself. Two of the likely outcomes in Ondo will signal a big disaster for him in the long run. Much better APC bury their hatchet and back their candidate. I will be here to say “I told you so”. Actually it wasn’t me, the message came from our ancestors and all the Orishas and Irunmoles of Yoruba land and once more the message goes thus; “a storm sown out of ill will, will consume those who sowed the storm. They have forgotten the people and where they came from and power is about to change hands”. One thing about our ancestors, they warn you so you can retrace your steps.
